It’s Begun

110 miles down and we’ve crossed into North Carolina from Georgia. The first night on the trail we were thrown in the deep end, -5 degrees and heavy frost, shivering in my sleeping bag. It got better within 5 minutes on the trail when we witnessed how beautiful the forest had become. Ten days later we’ve gone through heavy rain storms and wet feet for 48 hours, and a case or two of beer. I’ve made friends I feel I’ve known for years and spontaneously burst into tears of joy through doing something I’ve had my heart set on. I’ve been fed by complete strangers when I’ve least expected it. I’ve laughed and smiled and I’m only two weeks in. Thank you to all
