Over six months ago I left from Springer mountain, Georgia heading north and today I climbed to the summit of Mount Katahdin, Maine completing my 2189 mile thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail.
Along the way I’ve met some truly wonderful people and some that I know will continue to be life long friends, thank you, you know who you are.
I’d done my research and thought I knew what I was getting my self into. I did up to a certain point but you can never really understand what an experience like this is until you undertake it.
To anyone who is thinking about going out and attempting a thruhike on a long distance trail, just do it. Do your research, buy the ticket and take the ride.
Travel, to me is one of the most rewarding and satisfying things a human can do, but so few people take the leap and settle for a life less adventurous. If I’ve inspired you, even in a small way, to step out of your comfort zone then I’m a happy man.
The sense of achievement is really high, the fact that this thing is actually over hasn’t kicked in yet, I’m kinda dreading that moment, kinda.
Thank you for following along on this adventure, look out for new content in the next few weeks as I attempt to process all that has occurred. If you have questions or comments, leave them below and I’ll be happy to answer them.
