HI I’m Pie!

pieonthetrail.com is a website dedicated to The Outdoors and Adventure Travel

On the 15th of September 2015 I completed a Thru-Hike of the 2189 mile (3523km) Appalachian Trail. This website was originally a place to share my adventure with friends and family, it’s grown a lot since then.  In June of 2017 I’ll be starting a through hike of the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) and will be directing and producing a feature documentary.

Travel is a huge part of my life, I’ve been lucky enough to be travelling periodically for the last five years, visiting  41 countries and all seven continents. I met my Finnish girlfriend five years ago in Mexico city and in 2012 I made the move from my hometown in Essex, England to Helsinki, Finland.

The CDT in 2017 is the focus of pieonthetrail right now, my physical preparations, dehydrating recipes, gear selection, etc. However I plan on sharing a number of my passions including;

  • Travel bags and gear
  • Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)
  • Self development tips and tactics

I look forward to sharing my adventures with you and hope to inspire more people to break out of their comfort zones and live adventurously.

    Any reason why you picked a tent over a hammock? Personal preference?

      Hi. Yes personal preference, many people were using hammocks on the trail and loved them, I even a slept in a friends once or twice. I plan on playing around with them in the future, do you use one? What do you think?
